Hello all, I need a tin opener which is electric or rechargable preferably. Have looked through various web pages for one but I dont want to waste money and get one which proves useless to me. Thought there may someone out there who has found one which is ideal for RA sufferers.

I couldn't manage without my one touch can which does the job for you! One of the best can openers I've had. Just off to work and can't remember who makes it but I'll look when i get back home-unless someone beats me to it! YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hello I have the one touch can opener (had it about 4 yeras now and only replaced the batteries once) I find it very easy to use, just place it on the tin and press the big round button. They sell it in argos (and various other places) http://www.argos.co.uk/s.../partNumber/8421588.htm
I was so impressed with it I bought the jar opener as well a couple of years a go. That has also been great. Gets lids off of nearly every size of jar. Even managed to get a lid off an extremed gunked up honey jar my husband couldn't open. http://www.argos.co.uk/s.../partNumber/8422642.htm

Thank you for your help . I have seen the one touch tin openers and worried that I would struggle when the batteries need replacing. I will look closer at them. Cheers XX

I did manage to change the batteries myself it wasn't too fiddly. Would someone be able to change them for you - they don't need doing very often. I changed it when it started getting slower so it wasn't a case of it suddenly stopping halfway round a tin - just in case!

I inherited a Kenwood electric one from my mum. It works very easily but can be a bit fiddly to get the tin under it correctly, but this may just be because it is old. https://www.amazon.co.uk...d=1301678924&sr=8-2
I've had 2 of these JML ones - but they don't last very long, the blades went blunt in about 3 months. We do have a family so it is probably doing 2 tins per day. The Kenwood one is the better of the two. Anne

Thank you for your help, will have to do some research. Not got a great deal of help here so battery changes need to be done by me, perhaps I can see if there would be a chance of examining a demonstration one. X

If I had to buy another one I must admit I'd do the electric power Kenwood one, as you don't need to bother with batteries. I'd hope the newer version are easier to get the tin lined up under!

Hi i also have a one touch tin opener from easylife.com the batteries are are easy to change. You also get a free jar opener with it but it's no good for me as it still needs some wrist strength.

i have a one touch and a kenwood and tend to use the kenwood.
there is a knack to putting the tin under but once you have the knack then you are away.
we have the one touch as spares and people who havent got the "knack" use that one!

i brought a disabled one hand tin opener the thing is brand new and i have used it half dozon times the thing is hopeless so don,t buy unless someone on here says what too get Chris The chocolate eating housewife ...The washer woman .....naughty lady

Thanks everyone - those suggestions have given me something to work with. Was looking at the 'one touch' in Lakeland yesterday and the battery change would need more dexterity than I have, besides it was rather expensive.
